It borders Germany and Czechia to the north, Slovakia and Hungary to the east, Slovenia and Italy to the south, and Switzerland and Liechtenstein to the west. Austria is a year-round destination. Summer (June–August) is perfect for the lakes of the Salzkammergut, Alpine hiking and the Salzburg Festival. Spring and autumn are ideal for cities and the wine harvest in the Wachau. The ski season runs from December to March or April in Tyrol and the Arlberg.
