Planning a trip involves a lot of small calculations. How much is €80 a night in your currency? How far is it from Lisbon to Rome? What time will it be at home when you land in Tokyo? The AtlasWise travel tools answer these questions in seconds. They also link to our guides to all 195 countries, so you can move straight from a number to the information behind it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are the AtlasWise travel tools free?

Yes. All AtlasWise travel tools, including the currency converter, distance calculator, time zone converter, area converter, travel budget planner and country finder, are free to use and need no sign-up.

How does the distance calculator measure distance?

It calculates the great-circle distance, which is the shortest path between two points on the Earth's surface. This is close to the distance a plane flies; road and rail journeys are usually longer.

Are the currency conversions exact?

The converter uses recent market exchange rates, so it is ideal for planning. Banks, card providers and exchange bureaus add their own fees and margins, so the rate you actually get will be slightly different.

How can I avoid jet lag when crossing time zones?

Check the time difference before you go, shift your sleep by an hour or so a day in the days before departure, get daylight in the morning at your destination, and try to stay awake until local bedtime on arrival day.

Which tool should I use first when planning a trip?

Start with the Country Finder or our country guides to choose a destination, then use the Distance Calculator and Time Zone Converter to understand the journey, and finish with the Currency Converter and Travel Budget Planner to set your budget.
