๐ŸŒบ Omani Culture & Food

Oman was once a great maritime empire stretching to Zanzibar and the coast of East Africa, and its sailors traded frankincense across the Indian Ocean. Today it is known for its peaceful, welcoming culture. Omani men wear the white dishdasha and embroidered kuma cap, often with a curved khanjar dagger on special occasions. Oman has five UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Bahla Fort, the ancient aflaj irrigation channels and the Land of Frankincense in Dhofar.

Visitors are welcomed with kahwa (cardamom coffee) and dates. Try shuwa (spiced lamb slow-cooked underground, especially at Eid), majboos (spiced rice with meat), mashuai (whole grilled kingfish with lemon rice) and sticky Omani halwa. Say "As-salamu alaykum" to greet people and "Shukran" for thank you.
