The north and coasts are low and hot; the Central Highlands rise to 2,524 m at Pidurutalagala, with tea estates, waterfalls and cool air. The ancient "Cultural Triangle" of Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Kandy is in the island's centre and north.
Colombo is about 11 hours from London via a hub and 1 hour from Chennai. Distances are short but roads are slow. Check the distance from your city with our distance calculator.
