๐ Where Is Namibia?
Namibia lies on the Atlantic coast of south-western Africa. It borders Angola and Zambia to the north, Botswana to the east and South Africa to the south; the narrow Zambezi Region (Caprivi Strip) reaches east to the Zambezi River. The Namib Desert, one of the oldest deserts on Earth, runs along the whole coast, the Kalahari covers the east, and a central plateau holds Windhoek.
Windhoek has direct flights from Frankfurt (about 10 hours) and from Johannesburg and Cape Town (about 2 hours). Distances are huge and most roads are gravel. Check the distance from your city with our distance calculator.
๐ Best Time to Visit Namibia
The best time to visit Namibia is the dry season from May to October, when animals gather at Etosha's waterholes, skies are clear and days are warm (20โ30 ยฐC), though desert nights can be near freezing in JuneโAugust. September and October are excellent for wildlife but hot. The green season (NovemberโApril) brings afternoon storms, newborn animals, migratory birds and lower lodge prices. The coast at Swakopmund is cool and foggy all year.
