📍 Where Is Algeria?
Algeria is in North Africa, with about 1,200 km of Mediterranean coast. It borders Morocco and Western Sahara to the west, Tunisia and Libya to the east, and Mauritania, Mali and Niger to the south. The north has the Tell Atlas mountains, Kabylie and fertile coastal plains; more than four-fifths of the country is the Sahara, with the Hoggar mountains, the Tassili plateau and huge sand seas (ergs).
Most visitors fly into Algiers, with flights from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Oran and Constantine also have international flights. Air Algérie connects Algiers with Sahara towns such as Djanet, Tamanrasset, Timimoun and Ghardaïa, and trains link the main northern cities. The border with Morocco is closed.
