๐ Where Is Guyana?
Guyana sits on the north-east shoulder of South America, facing the Atlantic. It borders Venezuela to the west, Brazil to the south and south-west, and Suriname to the east. Culturally it belongs to the Caribbean: it is the only English-speaking country in South America and the headquarters of CARICOM. Most of the interior is rainforest, savannah and the Pakaraima Mountains, cut by the Essequibo, Demerara and Berbice rivers.
International flights land at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, 40 km south of Georgetown, with direct services from New York, Miami, Toronto, Trinidad and Barbados. The interior is reached mostly by small planes from Ogle Airport in Georgetown or by long road trips on the LindenโLethem road. Check travel distances with our distance calculator.
